Summer Reading Program Begins June 23

Newport Beach Public Library will kick off the 2018 Summer Reading Program beginning June 23 at the Central Library and Balboa and Mariners Branch Libraries. 

The Children’s Summer Reading Program will run from June 23 to August 11 with the theme “Reading Takes You Everywhere!”  Children can pick up game sheets at all of the Newport Beach libraries beginning June 23. Participants are encouraged to read throughout the summer and can earn prizes by turning in their game sheets and book reviews at the library. A special opening day celebration, featuring Kids Imagine Nation, will be held at the Central Library on Saturday, June 23 at 11 a.m. in the Central Library Friends Room, 1000 Avocado Avenue, Newport Beach.

Other special programs, including magic shows, science programs, live animals encounters and other creative craft and activity programs, are scheduled weekly at Newport Beach Public Library locations; Central Library, 1000 Avocado Avenue; Mariners Branch Library, 1300 Irvine Avenue; and the Balboa Branch Library, 100 E. Balboa Blvd.  A complete calendar of events is available online at  The library also offers Summer Reading Programs for teens and adults that encourage reading and reviewing books with prize drawings and other activities.
