SCULPTURE IN THE CIVIC CENTER PARK EXHIBITION
The Newport Beach City Arts Commission hosted a grand opening celebration for the inaugural Sculpture in the Civic Center Park Exhibition on Saturday, September 13. The Sculpture in the Newport Beach Civic Center Park Exhibition prominently showcases ten works of art, selected by a panel of art jurors, for a period of two years (Summer 2014-Summer 2016) in the heart of Newport Beach at the newly created Civic Center Park. The 14-acre, ocean-view site was specially designed by renowned landscape architect Peter Walker as an intended sculpture garden.
A presentation of the selections was made before City Council and approved in May 2014. Installation of nine of the sculptures in the Civic Center Park was completed in September 2014. "Red" which required some refurbishing after its prior installation, will be installed in February 2015.
