2013 Concerts in the Parks
Presented by the Newport Beach City Arts Commission

The City Arts Commission will present three fantastic performances as part of the “Concerts in the Parks” series during the summer of 2013. Concerts in the Parks are on Sundays, from 6-7:30pm and are free to the public.  Don’t forget to bring your blankets and beach chairs! 

All the 2013 Concerts in the Park will be held in a new location this summer - on the Civic Green at the Newport Beach Civic Center, 100 Civic Center Drive.

 

Hollywood U2 Band
Sunday, June 30, 6pm

Hollywood U2 successfully captures U2’s essence with  a dynamic, exciting and amazingly realistic experience that’s on par with seeing the band live.  Led by Hollywood Bono, with a voice that is as mesmerizing and soulful as the real Bono’s, this tribute band will bring rock fans to their feet for a summer night in the park that they won’t forget.

Springsteen: The Premier Tribute to the Boss
Sunday, July 28, 6pm   

The Springsteen Premier Trribute will take you back in time to 1975, just after the release of Bruce’s breakthrough album, Born To Run. The chronological journey recreates the most memorable moments and stage interactions through concert history into the height of Bruce’s Fame in the 80’s and beyond, with songs like Glory Days, Hungry Heart, Dancing in the Dark, Trapped, Born In The USA.

Upstream
Sunday, August 11, 6pm   

Back in Newport Beach by popular demand, Upstream, a band originating in the republic of Trinidad and Tobago, plays an energetic blend of “Island Music,” influenced by Reggae, Techno, Funk, Hip Hop and Soca. Upstream includes three sons of the venerable originator of Soca music, the late Ras Shorty I.  The group has been the opener for acts such as REM, Dave Matthews Band, The Wailers, Cherry Poppin’ Daddies, Harvey Danger, Inner Circle, Wailing Souls and Jimmy Buffett to name a few.
