Independence Day Parade & Celebration - New Date & Start Time
The City of Newport Beach and the Mariners Elementary School Foundation will host the 38th annual Independence Day Parade and Celebration on Saturday, July 3 at Mariners Park, 1300 Irvine Ave., Newport Beach. The parade will begin at the corner of Commodore & Mariners Drive at 10:30 a.m. and the celebration will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the park.
This year’s festivities include free entertainment, face painting, and arts & crafts. There will be food for sale and wristbands available for purchase that allow participation in games and activities including a Rock Climbing Wall, Bungee Run, 28, Slide, Defender Dome, Wrecking Ball, Adrenaline Maze, Obstacle Course, Balloon Burst, games down Carnival Row, Sports Zone and more! Old Glory Boat Parade
The 53rd annual "Old Glory Boat Parade" sponsored by the American Legion Yacht Club and the American Legion Post 291 will be held in Newport Harbor on July 4, beginning at 1 p.m. See the harbor at its patriotic best as boats decorated in red-white & blue move through the water. Marine Corps Coastal City Flyover
Four AH-1W Super Cobras from Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 367 are scheduled to perform a flyover along the coast of five Orange County cities on Sunday, July 4. Their coastal flight will begin in Huntington Beach and continue south to Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Dana Point, San Clemente and will end at Camp Pendleton. Their estimated flight time (for the entire route) is from 7 p.m. until 7:15 p.m. Since Newport Beach is early in their flight, they are expected to arrive over our coast before 7:05 p.m. If you are by the beach Sunday evening, please cheer on these Marine Corps pilots!
Fireworks Extravaganza
The possession or use of fireworks is illegal in the City of Newport. Residents and visitors who wish to view a fireworks display are encouraged to attend one of the many public shows planned throughout the area. The City is co-sponsoring a Fireworks Extravaganza with the Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort, 1131 Back Bay Drive, Newport Beach. The fireworks show will begin at 9 p.m. on Sunday, July 4, but the Dunes has planned a full-day of activities for those interested in spending their holiday by the Back Bay.
