About The Municipal Operations Department

Mission Statement “To provide clean, safe, and responsive utility and infrastructure maintenance services to the community of Newport Beach.”

It is our job to operate City facilities and maintain all City-owned public property within Newport Beach. Through a strategic combination of in-house staff and contractors, we take care of:

* City Parks and Trees     * Beach Maintenance  * Refuse Collection
* Street Maintenance * Sidewalk, Curb, Gutters     * City-Owned Buildings
* Fleet Maintenance * Water Services * Wastewater Services
* Storm Drains * Streetlights * Street Sweeping
* Graffiti Removal * Oil Wells * Street Signs

Our crews are also responsible for responding to emergencies such as flooding caused by pipeline breaks or high tides. City personnel stand watch in the coastal areas during heavy rainstorms to adjust tidal valves to prevent areas like Balboa Island and Balboa Village from flooding.

It’s essential that we keep Newport Beach beautiful. Our crews work on year-round maintenance schedules and look for issues daily as they go about their work around town. Equally as important are the eyes and ears of community members who help us to spot problems as they occur. If you see something amiss, please let us know and we will be on our way to make the repairs.

We realize it’s often difficult to differentiate between City property, county or state property, and private property. If you see a maintenance issue, please pass it along to us. If it’s not on City property, we will do our best to reach the property owner and pass along the information.
