Several construction projects are taking place around the city that might cause some traffic impacts. Your patience is appreciated and alternate travel routes are recommended.
Jamboree Road at Coast Highway
A preventative maintenance project started this week on the Jamboree Road and Coast Highway traffic signals. The project includes rewiring the traffic signal and installing new traffic control equipment. In addition, slight modifications will be made to the median to enhance bicycle passage.
There will be intermitted lane closures and periods when the traffic signal will be dark. As a safety reminder, when a traffic signal is dark (not working), or on red flash, all vehicles, bicycles and / or pedestrians are required to make a complete stop.
Work at this location is planned for completion at the end of October. Motorist should expect delays and consider other routes.
Newport Boulevard at 32nd Street
A contractor for the Gas Company will be making repairs to the gas main located in the Newport Blvd roadway at 32nd Street. Work is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, October 4 and is estimated to take approximately two weeks to complete. To accommodate the excavation work, the southbound right lane on Newport Blvd will be closed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and lane closures on 32nd Street will be allowed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The contractor will have someone escorting pedestrians through the work area. Please observe the traffic control in place - it’s for everyone’s safety.
MacArthur Boulevard at San Miguel Drive
The southbound right lane of MacArthur Blvd at San Miguel Drive will be closed on Wednesday, October 4 and Thursday, October 5 for construction related activity on the new Civic Center parking structure.
