Following recent accidents involving bicyclists in Newport Beach, community members and cycling advocates have organized a memorial bike ride for this Sunday, October 28, starting at 8 a.m. in Fashion Island. Participants will gather prior to the start of the ride near the northwest corner of Santa Rosa and Newport Center Drive, 92660.
The approximately 1.2-mile ride will be a slow-paced, remembrance lap around Newport Center Drive starting at Santa Rosa and proceeding south. The ride is free, but the net proceeds of related fundraising efforts (sale of commemorative wrist bands and t-shirts) will be directed toward bicycle safety improvement projects within Newport Beach.
