Make a Splash at the Library this Summer
NEWPORT BEACH, CA (June 17, 2010) – The Newport Beach Public Library will kick off the 2010 Summer Reading Program beginning June 26. Last year over 2,660 children, 196 teens and 100 adults participated in the Newport Beach program which encourages reading and regular visits to the library with weekly entertainment and game sheets for children, book reviews for adults and teens, and lots of prizes for everyone!
The Children’s Summer Reading Program will run from June 26 to August 13 with the theme “Make a Splash, Read!” Children can register in the Children’s Department at the Central Library, and Balboa, Corona del Mar and Mariners branch libraries. Summer events begin Tuesday, June 29 when The Wildlife Company brings some exotic and unusual live animals to the Central Library for two programs beginning at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.
Special programs, featuring animal shows, magicians, puppets, jugglers, balloon artists and crafts, will be held regularly on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. and 12 noon at the Central Library, 1000 Avocado Avenue; on Wednesdays at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. at Crean Mariners Branch Library, 1300 Irvine Avenue; and on Thursdays at 10 a.m. at the Balboa Branch Library, 100 E. Balboa Blvd; and on Fridays at 3 p.m. at the Corona del Mar Branch Library, 420 Marigold Avenue, Corona del Mar. The library also offers Summer Reading Programs for teens and adults.
Funding for the Summer Reading Program has been generously donated by the Friends of the Newport Beach Public Library.
