Pastry Chef Takes the Cake to Newport Beach Public Library Event
Newport Beach, CA (June 7, 2010) – The Newport Beach Public Library is inviting customers to learn about cake and eat it too at an upcoming What’s Cooking at the Library program with Linda Geffeney, owner of The Confectionist in Newport Beach on Tuesday, June 15 at 7 p.m. in the Central Library Friends Room, 1000 Avocado Avenue, Newport Beach.
Geffeney, who has created gourmet wedding cakes for prestigious receptions along the Newport Coast and Los Angeles, combines the baking skills she learned at her French grandmother’s patisserie with her art major background to develop elegant cakes that have been featured in Elegant Bride, W, Orange Coast, Ceremony, Riviera and Coast magazines. Geffeney will give program guests an up-close lesson on cake making and decorating along with the chance to taste her delicious creations at the end of the program.
Other events scheduled as part of the “What’s Cooking at the Library” series include presentations by chef Cathy Thomas, author and award-winning food columnist for the OC Register on July 20 and Diane Weber, chef, writer, horticulturist and professor of Culinary Arts at the Art Institute of Orange County, on August 17.
All of the “What’s Cooking” events are held in the Friends Room at the Newport Beach Central Library with space limited to the first 100 guests registering. Reservations can be made online using the link on the Library’s website at www.newportbeachlibrary.org or the City of Newport Beach recreation class online registration site.
