Cathy Thomas Serves Up Summer Salads at “What’s Cooking” Event
Newport Beach, CA (July 13, 2010) - The Newport Beach Public Library continues its series of What’s Cooking at the Library with Chef Cathy Thomas on Tuesday, July 20 at 7 p.m. in the Central Library Friends Room, 1000 Avocado Avenue, Newport Beach
Cathy Thomas, a well-known food writer, on-air host and author of two books, will show guests how to make some irresistible main course salads that are perfect for summer entertaining. Her quick-to-prepare recipes showcase flavorful ingredients, relying on fresh fruits and vegetables to make each dish colorful and delicious. Guests will enjoy sampling all of her creations at the end of the program.
Attendees at this event will also have the opportunity to participate in Priority Registration for the October What’s Cooking at the Library with Chef Dave Martin from Bravo TV’s Top Chef Season One.
These events will be held in the Friends Room at the Newport Beach Central Library. Space is limited and reservations are required. A fee of $20 will be charged to cover the cost of food. More about the Chef
Cathy is the food columnist at the Orange County Register. Her weekly columns and food features are nationally distributed on the McClatchy Tribune News Wire and frequently appear in newspaper food sections across the country. She won the first place award as the best food columnist in the nation from the Association of Food Journalists (in the large newspaper division). Cathy has also filmed hundreds of cooking “how-to’s” and celebrity interviews for the newspaper’s Web site.
Her first book, “Melissa’s Great Book of Produce” demystifies the glorious array of fruits and vegetables that are available in the marketplace. Her second book, “Melissa’s Everyday Cooking with Organic Produce” has just been published.
