 Did you recently purchase or receive a new iPad, Kindle, Nook or Sony eReader? Not sure how to download free books from the Newport Beach Public Library website? Library staff can help. Just bring your Kindle, Nook, iPad or Sony eReader to one of theses special sessions for instruction in downloading Overdrive titles. Staff will give demonstrations, answer questions and provide tips to make eReading easy. |

One World Rhythm

One World Rhythm engages and inspires children of all ages with this fun, noisy, interactive program that lets the participants play drums, percussion and other melodic instruments!

Youth Concert: Musical Adventure

Two talented members of the Debussy Trio will present a Musical Adventure for the whole family, performing and talking about music from some of the world's great composers. It's free but seating is first-come, first-seated, limited by room capacity.

What's Cooking at the Library
Chef Ryan Wilson, Five Crowns
Tuesday, January 17, 7pm, Central Library
Chef Ryan Wilson, from Five Crowns and SideDoor, returns to the library to introduce guests to some of the gourmet dishes that earned SideDoor the honor of 2010 Top New Restaurant in Orange County.
Tickets are $20 each. What's Cooking events are held in the Central Library Friends Room.

Sunday Musicale
Bronwyn Banerdt and David Kaplan
Sunday, January 22, 3pm, Central Library
Two marvelous talents will be performing in this cello and piano recital at the Central Library. Pianist David Kaplan has been lauded for his "grace and fire" at the keyboard, and by The New York Times for "striking imagination and creativity." Cellist Bronwyn Banerdt has appeared in concert throughout the United States, Europe, Russia, and southern Africa. She made her solo debut with Los Angeles Philharmonic in 2002. |

The Colorado River: Flowing through Conflict
Thursday, January 26, 7pm, Central Library
Suggested admission: $10.00
The NBPL Foundation presents photographer Pete McBride who has spent almost two decades studying the world with his camera. A self-taught, award-winning photographer and filmmaker, he has traveled to over 60 countries on assignment. McBride's most recent project took over two years, documenting his local river - the Colorado. One of the most loved and litigated rivers in the world, it ceases to reach the sea.
McBride's journey culminated in an acclaimed coffee table book: "The Colorado River: Flowing through Conflict," and an award-winning short film, "Chasing Water." |
