What's Cooking at the Library?
Susan Irby, The Bikini Chef

Known as the Bikini Chef for her "figure-flattering flavors," Irby will share her secrets for making delicious dishes that are low in calories. She'll discuss how to use skinny substitutions in favorite recipes and how to boost your metabolism. Irby will be demonstrating how to make recipes from her "Substitute Yourself Skinny" cookbook and participants will have the opportunity to sample the food at the end of the program.

Library Live with Eleanor Coppola

Eleanor Coppola, wife of Francis Ford Coppola, will be speaking about her book, "Notes On a Life." In it she furnishes a candid account of a life in film, detailing her husband's film career, her daughter Sofia's rise to fame, the world of celebrity, her own artistic interests, and her struggle to cope with the grief and anger over the death of her son. Books will be available for purchase and signing. Light refreshments served. Presented by the NBPL Foundation. Suggested donation: $10. Reservations not required. |

Talk Like a Pirate with Dave Winstone |

 Join us at the Balboa Branch Library for our annual Talk Like a Pirate Day. Dave Winstone brings the spirit of the seas to the library singing sea shanties and pirate songs at 3 p.m. There will also be some fun crafts for kids and lots of "pirate talk." |

Computer Training Classes | |
There are lots of opportunities to learn new skills and develop new interests at the library. Newport Beach Public Library offers free Computer Training Classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and will host free business workshops held in conjunction with SCORE Orange County and sponsored by the NBPL Foundation.

 | SAT/ACT Practice Test

In collaboration with Kaplan tutoring, NBPL will host a free four-hour SAT/ACT practice test at the Central Library. Kaplan will deliver an analysis of each student's performance at a follow-up program on September 30. Sign up now. For more information, contact Teen Services at (949) 717-3808.
