What programs and services do you want at the new Marina Park?
The Marina Park project encompasses a 10.5-acre site and involves new construction of a public park; a 24,000-square-foot community and sailing center building; a 23-slip marina; a reconstructed 19th Street restroom building; a freestanding playground lighthouse feature; themed playground; outdoor fitness circuit; parking lots; and frontage street improvements. When the park opens in the December 2015, the official address will be 1600 West Balboa Boulevard, Newport Beach, 92663.
The park will also be home to the new 6,100-square-foot Girl Scouts Leadership Center, which is being funded entirely by the Girl Scouts of Orange County.
A majority of the Community and Sailing Center's building walls have been closed up. Focus is now being placed on the finishing metal, interior controls, and glazing.
Landscape work is underway, and a majority of the trees and shrubs have been planted. This will give time for the landscaping to properly establish prior to opening the park for public use.
On March 27, 2015, the City entered into an agreement with Lighthouse Café, LLC to operate the café space at Marina Park. Stay tuned for more details on the food service offered.
