MEET AUTHOR MICHELE KHOURY

Newport Beach Public Library presents Orange County writer, Michele Khoury, as part of a local authors lecture series.  Khoury will talk about her debut novel, Busted, which tells the riveting story of a twenty-four year-old artist who gets sucked into the world of wealth, luxury and cocaine.

Khoury began writing her book while taking Novel Writing Classes through the University of California Irvine’s extension programs.  She attended weekly critique sessions for six years to hone her research and writing skills. While writing, she interviewed and consulted with a variety of interesting individuals, including artists, a retired DEA Special Agent, a lieutenant in Narcotics from the Anaheim Police Department, Judge James Gray, a retired Superior Court Judge who wrote the book, Why our Drug Laws Have Failed and What We Can Do About It,  a defense attorney, a prosecutor for Los Angeles County, a retired CIA agent, an emergency room doctor, two women who spent time in the Orange County Jail, several party animals, and a “gentlemen” who sold cocaine for Pablo Escobar in the Southwest U.S. during the nineties. Khoury will share some of their stories as well as her own journey developing realistic characters and conflicts in this exciting new page-turner.

Busted is her first novel, and the theme is legalizing drugs. She is currently working on her second book, titled The Sheriff's Wife, which is a story about domestic violence and abuse.

Admission is free.  Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
