Seventeen year-old Emma has just survived a tragic car crash that left her orphaned and with no known family. Her life has just changed dramatically. She is brought into the hospital with a broken arm and a gloomy looking future. She is worried about where she was going to live and go to school now, but that all changes quickly. When an aunt that she didn't know she had appears and gains full guardianship over her, Emma is whisked onto an airplane to Alaska with the overly-handsome Kade and serious Malachi. She feels a strong connection with Kade, and she immediately fell head over heels for him. After landing, Emma is attacked by something, in the bathroom, that can only be described as a monster, and is saved by Kade, but still fears for her life. Following her arrival in the boonies of Alaska, Emma learns that no family doesn't have secrets, and hers are the beginning of a feud as old as time.

After analyzing this book and reading it multiple times, I have found that there is one great point that this book has, as well as one not so great point that I needed to exploit. One of the great things about this book is that in most fantasy fiction books, there is usually an underlying theme and symbolism used more often than in other genres.  In this book, the author uses the underlying theme that even in the darkest times and pits of life, friends and family will be there for you, even when you don't see it. This book gives a piece of hope that you will have a safe place even in your pits. The not so great part about this book is that it is an unrealistic fiction, even though it is fantasy, and that even though there is a great story, the story takes place over three to four days. The main character falls in love with another protagonist, and they are lusting over each other over the course of three to four days. They say that this is love, and to be honest you don't recognize the time span because of the plot, but it is still very unrealistic, even for fantasy fiction.

My rating for this book is a nine out of ten. I honestly loved the book and the plot line, but the fact that you have to recognize that they are two teenagers lusting over each other thinking it is love, is pretty unrealistic, even with the fact that it is fantasy. The themes and the plot were so great, though. This book has a plot that makes you want to turn the pages faster than you are reading. It is action filled and lets you know what the character is thinking. Overall, I would have to say that it is one of the greatest books I heave read, because of its plot line. If you do not like fantasy, in the terms of angels and demons (not Pegasus and witches), than this probably is not a great book for you. I really enjoyed this book and I hope you do as well.
