Don’t Put Me In Coach by: Mark Titus is a very good book with a lot of laugh out loud type of moments. Out of 10 I would have to give this book a 10 because I play basketball and I am very interested in what it will be like once I get into college. I would recommend this book for anyone over 13, because in some parts of the book it wouldn’t be age appropriate for anyone 12 and under.

The book is about a pretty good basketball player named Mark Titus. You first meet him when he is a younger boy really putting it to other boys playing basketball. Since he was better then every kid in his league, he switched to AAU basketball [club basketball]. Immediately the competition was much better, and he kept at it for some more years. Eventually he made his way into high school and got asked to join a better AAU team. He happily agreed and made some new friends on this team. He was so close to these guys he went to the same college that they did, Ohio State University. When he was there he immediately wanted to be apart of the basketball team.

It took him a while but some players got injured and he was now on the team.  He was really trying to get some playing time on this team but soon enough realized he wasn’t going to. He happily took the role as being the bench warmer, and seemed to like it more then getting any real playing time when the game was close. He liked it because he didn’t have to work hard in practice and he wasn’t expected to do anything good. He quickly became one of coach Mattas favorite players because of his since of humor. He ended up getting a scholarship to the University because they had some extra ones to pass out, and since Matta liked him he got one. With this he could get away with even more of his pranks on the team.

During his sophomore year he created a blog called “Club Trillion.”  He named it this because his stat sheet usually showed 1 minute then a whole bunch of zeros after it. This blog slowly became very well known all over campus. After more and more people started to follow his blog he created an award for being bad called trillions. All you have to do to get one is be in the game for at least a minute and literally do nothing to help your team. In his blog he wrote about good and bad things about his teammates. He also wrote some bad things about opposing teams, and just his regular life. This was the highlight of his 4 years at college and it dragged on all they way till the end. On his last game as a Buckeye the whole student section dressed up as sharks [his nickname “Mark the Shark.”] This was the first book I actually wanted to read instead of playing video games. As you can tell it’s a great book and I hope anyone who reads this goes and finds it in the library.
