Ride the Balboa Peninsula Trolley
The familiar gold and burgundy Balboa Peninsula Trolley has returned with service each Saturday and Sunday during the summer and on the Labor Day holiday, Monday, September 3.
With 22 designated stops along the route, trolley riders will be able to explore the Peninsula in style without having to worry about the struggle of finding a place to park. The trolley is a free serve with regular hours from 9:30 a.m. until 9:30 p.m.
A trolley is scheduled to pick up riders at every stop in 15-minute intervals, depending on traffic conditions. Riders are invited to climb aboard or exit the trolley at any of the stops along the way to and from the Balboa Pier and Fun Zone area all the way to Mariners' Mile.
For those planning a day at the beach, the trolley can accommodate bicycles, surfboards under six-feet long and beach gear. The trolley also has a lift for wheelchairs. Riders can obtain real-time trolley locations at peninsulatrolley.com or by downloading the mobile app "Ride Systems" and searching for Newport Beach from the list of agencies.
Trolley riders traveling to the area can find free parking at the City's Avon Street municipal parking lot located near the Tustin Avenue and Avon Street intersection within Mariners' Mile. The trolley driver will provide riders with a parking code for the parking lot's pay station or entry in the Park Mobile app (Hint: Download and set up the app prior to arriving).
