Diane Brooks Dixon
Office Sought:  Member of the City Council - District 1

  Diane Dixon

Occupation: Councilwoman

I was elected in 2014 to serve you.

Newport Beach is a fantastic community. My husband Pat and I retired here because of the exceptional quality of life.

I spent 30 years managing corporate and governmental affairs for a publicly traded Fortune 500 company.

As mayor in 2016, I initiated the audit of the Civic Center project that recovered nearly $500,000 for taxpayers.

I have held 20 town hall meetings to listen to community concerns.

I am proud of our plan to reduce Newport’s $320 million pension debt, using surplus budget funds while protecting our high-quality services.

I support the proposed charter amendment requiring voter approval for debt to finance future large city projects like the $142.5 million civic center.

As a wealthy city, we need to be abundantly cautious about over-spending and over-taxing residents and businesses.

I will continue to balance growth and traffic concerns with the financial needs of the city.

I am working hard to curtail John Wayne Airport noise and stop any expansion plans.

We are making progress in improving Newport Harbor.

Increased transparency and citizen participation are my primary goals.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve. I ask for your vote.
