The City adopted a Fats, Oils and Grease (FOG) Control Program in 2004 (Newport Beach Municipal Code 14.30) as an important component of the City's wastewater system maintenance program. Additionally the City is mandated by the State of California to implement a FOG Control Program to prevent Sanitary Sewer Overflows.

Per Newport Beach Municipal Code Chapter 14.30.020, all the Food Service Establishments must obtain a Grease Disposal Permit prior to the operation and discharge of FOG into the wastewater system.

The City works with a contractor to implement and regulate the FOG Control Program. Part of that program includes Best Management Practices, and outreach materials. A copy of all materials presented to Food Service Establishments is included below.
