SUBJECT:     Report of actions taken by Planning Department staff for the week ending October 19, 2007

 

 

Item 1:             Robert Thornton Architects – Comprehensive Sign Program CS2007-009 (PA2007-135)

2233 West Balboa Boulevard

 

The Zoning Administrator approved the Comprehensive Sign Program for an existing retail commercial building in accordance with the provisions of Section 20.67.030 (Sign Code) of the Newport Beach Municipal Code and the Cannery Village/McFadden Square Specific Plan). The building is currently undergoing a remodel and will be occupied by multiple retail tenants. The sign program is for wall signs on the building facing West Balboa Boulevard, 23rd Street, rear alley/parking lot and the side alley. Chapter 20.67 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code, specifically Section 20.67.030(I), provides that the Zoning Administrator may review and approve comprehensive sign programs for multi-tenant commercial buildings.

Item 2:             TPN LP – Accessory Outdoor Dining Permit No. OD2007-005 (PA2007-154)

6700 West Coast Highway

 

The Planning Director approved the applicants request for the establishment of an accessory outdoor dining use in conjunction with an existing full-service restaurant. The request will place a 130 square foot dining patio located between the building and the parking spaces at the westerly end of the building. The property is located in the SP-4 (Newport Shores Specific Plan Area) District.

Item 3:             Visages by Sonia – Planning Director’s Use Permit No. UP2007-021 (PA2007-177)

2700 West Coast Highwy, Suite 270

 

The Planning Director approved the applicants request to allow the establishment of an independent massage facility in conjunction with an existing skin care facility. The proposal will add massage services as an additional amenity for patrons of the skin care facility. Also included in the application is a request to waive the location requirements since the facility is located within 500 feet of another independent massage establishment. The property is located in the SP-5 (Mariners Mile Specific Plan) District.
