Welcome to Newport Beach

To help make your visit more enjoyable and worry free, we have gathered information about parking and parking alternatives on this web page.

Interactive Parking Map

Use our interactive map to find the most convenient parking for your destination. The map also identifies blue and silver meter poles for those how have a parking permit (see below).

Balboa Peninsula Trolley

The Balboa Peninsula Trolley is a free service during the summer weekends and holidays. The trolley service has a route of 22 stops and operates from 10 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. Riders can park for free at the City's Avon Street parking lot, which is located near the intersection of Avon Street and Tustin Avenue. The trolley can accommodate wheelchairs, bicycles, surfboards and beach gear and is a fun alternative for traveling along the busy peninsula.

Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

The City has 23 electric vehicle (EV) charge stations available for public use. There are a mix of both Level 2 and Level 3 DC fast charging stations. The EV charging stations are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The average cost is between $1.85 and $2.10 per session and accept either the EVgo or ChargePoint networks.

You can find EV charging stations at the following locations:

  • Newport Beach Civic Center and Park, 100 Civic Center Drive
  • Marina Park Community and Sailing Center, 1600 W. Balboa Boulevard
  • OASIS Senior Center, 801 Narcissus Avenue

Paid Parking

Parkmobile app - There are several areas around town that require you to pay for parking at City lots and certain on street locations.  To make it easy to pay and monitor when your parking session is expiring, download the Parkmobile app. Using the app allows you to set up your account with vehicle and payment information in advance. Then, when you arrive at a parking zone, you simply open the app and follow the prompts to start parking. The app will alert you in advance of the time expiring and allows you to add time without having to return to your vehicle. The Parkmobile app is available for download in your smartphone's app store.

Parkmobile.com - Using Parkmobile mobile payments allows you to add time without returning to your vehicle.  This service also provides meter expiration reminders.  Register today online and save time when parking.   Click here to see a video on how to set up and use Parkmobile application. Click here for a printable Parkmobile Quick Tips.

Parking Lots and Pay Stations - Most paid parking areas throughout the City of Newport Beach require payment from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily, including weekends and holidays. Hours of operation are displayed on each pay station or other nearby signage.

The Balboa Pier lot requires payment 24 hours a day.

Disabled persons displaying a valid disabled person placard can park at certain paid parking locations without charge. The following lots are an exception and still require payment:

  • Corona del Mar State Beach Lot (no discount)
  • Marina Park Community and Sailing Center (no discount)
  • Balboa Pier Lot (50% discount)

Meter zones and rates are established by Municipal Code Sections 12.44.020 and 12.44.040.

Parking Operations - To report an issue or if you need assistance at a pay station, please contact Laz Parking at 949-524-8915. Please note, a non-operating pay station does not mean that you can park for free since other payment options are available. For example, payment may be made at another nearby pay station or via payment app such as ParkMobile.

Parking Permits - The City of Newport Beach offers several parking permits for residents, businesses and visitors.  For more information on permits available, click here.

Parking Citations - Parking citation payments are due 21 days from the date of issuance. Fines not paid within the 21 days are subject to a late fee and prohibit the contesting of a citation.  You can pay or appeal your citation online. You may contest a parking citation by requesting an Administrative Review within 21 days of the citation issue date. For the quickest response, use our online appeal system.

For questions about parking or if you received a citation, please contact the City's Revenue Division by email to revenuehelp@newportbeachca.gov or calling 949-644-3141.
