Most parking meters require payment from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, including weekends and holidays. Hours of operation are posted on each meter head, pay station or other signage. The Balboa Pier lot requires payment 24 hours a day. Disabled persons displaying a valid placard can park at any meter or pay station without charge, except at the Corona del Mar State Beach lot (there is no discount) and the Balboa Pier lot (50-percent discount). Meter zones and fees are established by Municipal Code Sections 12.44.020 and 12.44.040.

Parking Meter Operations - Includes contact information for reporting broken meter. Please note, a broken parking meter does not mean that you can park for free and a citation may be issued.

Parking Permits - The City offers several parking permits for residents, businesses and visitors.

Parking Citations - Parking citation payments are due 21 days from the date of issuance. Fines not paid within the 21 days are subject to a late fee and prohibit the contesting of a citation.  You can pay or appeal your citation online. You may contest a parking citation by requesting an Administrative Review within 21 days of the citation issue date. For the quickest response, use our online appeal system.
