On behalf of the men and women of the Newport Beach Fire Department, welcome to the fire department website.  The Newport Beach Fire Department has been serving our community since 1911. The Newport Beach Fire Department is an all risk, all hazard response agency. The department is divided into two divisions:  Fire Operations and Marine Operations.

Fire Operations has 38 members on duty 24/7, 365 days a year. We provide fire and emergency medical services from eight fire stations located strategically throughout the City. The fire operations division is responsible for fire suppression, fire training, emergency medical services (EMS) and the community emergency response team (CERT). Fire operations is supported by an administrative staff that handles all clerical work, oversees budgeting, EMS reporting, ambulance billing and Fire and Lifeguard Training.

Fire operations responded to over 11,000 calls for service in 2016. These calls included fires, medical, technical rescues, hazardous material response, and public assists. Our call volume has increased approximately two percent annually since 2012.

Marine operations provides open water rescue, rescue boats, lifeguard training and coordinates one of the most successful Junior Lifeguard programs in the world. Our permanent staff of professional lifeguards is 15.  Marine Operations employs an additional 210 seasonal lifeguards during the summer staffing period. 

Fire inspection and plan review for new construction is provided through the Community Development Department.
