Housing Element Revised

City staff and its consultant team worked with the Housing Element Update Advisory Committee (HEUAC), Planning Commission, City Council, and the community over the previous 20 months to prepare an update to Housing Element. On February 8, 2022, the Newport Beach City Council adopted an update to its Housing Element for the 2021-2029 planning cycle in response to the 6th Cycle Regional Housing Needs Assessment (RHNA) allocation of 4,845 new housing units for Newport Beach. On February 11, 2022, the City submitted the adopted update to the State Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) for a mandatory 60-day review. On April 11, 2022, the City received a letter from HCD with comments and has since revised the Element to be responsive. You can view that letter by clicking here. Mid-Review Revisions to the Revised Housing Element (8-8-2022)

The City has made revisions to the June 21, 2022 version based on feedback received from HCD during this review period. All changes are differentiated by a yellow highlight. The balance of the text is unchanged. The City intends to transmit the revisions to HCD for consideration on August 16, 2022. Any comments on the changes may be submitted to GPUpdate@newportbeachca.gov.
