The undergrounding construction has been completed in this area and each property owner needs to convert existing private overhead facilitates to underground.  All properties must complete the conversion by November 30, 2008.

The following steps must be taken to complete the conversion process:

1. Building Department Underground Pre-Inspection Checklist should have already been distributed to each property owner.  Contact Paul Sobek, City Building Inspector, at 949.644.3268 to obtain a copy.  A pre-inspection is required even if your property has existing underground services.
2. After the pre-inspection is complete, it is strongly recommended to obtain at least three bids from electricians and ask for references in order to get a reputable contractor at the lowest possible price for conversion.
3. A copy of the pre-inspection checklist is needed for your contractor to pull the required Electrical Building Permit and perform the conversion work. Refer to the Building Department conversion information packet.
4. Once the appropriate conduits have been extended and ready to connect to the underground system, the contractor should contact Southern California Edison Planning Department at 714.895.0221 as soon as possible to schedule an appointment. The cut-over process will require the presence of both your contractor and SCE Planner at the same time.
5. You and your contractor are responsible for coordinating with the Building Department and SCE to final/ close out the electrical permit.

All property services must be converted and energized to the underground system before the utility companies can proceed with the removal of the overhead lines and poles. Should you not comply prior to the deadline state above, an Administrative Citation may be issued by the City's Code Enforcement Division.
