City Art Exhibitions and Donations

Exhibiting Art

Please Note: Central Library art exhibits are currently scheduled through January 2024.

The City of Newport Beach maintains exhibit space at the Central Library, 1000 Avocado Avenue. The Library was completed in 1994 and now averages 3,000 daily visitors.

The Lobby Gallery in the Central Library has approximately 38 feet of linear wall space designed for two-dimensional pieces of art. Additionally, two display cabinets were added to the lobby of Central Library in 2010. Artists may now apply to exhibit three-dimensional works for this exhibition space. The display cases are approximately 24” high x 24” deep x 24” wide

All gallery spaces are administered by the Library Services Manager. The City Arts Commission’s Fine Arts Committee meets periodically to review artist's submissions; and artists will be notified by mail of acceptance. Art exhibitions are scheduled for at least one year in advance for all exhibit locations. Regional artists are encouraged to submit exhibition proposals. Upon acceptance, exhibiting artists must agree to the conditions and requirements detailed in the City Policy 1-11.

Donating Art

Donors are encouraged to submit proposals and must agree to the conditions and requirements detailed in the City Policy 1-11.  The application form for donated art is in  Adobe .pdf format and requires Adobe Acrobat Reader.  The City Arts Commission’s Fine Arts Committee meets periodically to review donor's submissions; and will be notified by mail of acceptance. There are no deadlines for applying - the Exhibition Committee meets periodically and there are no fees required.

2024 Newport Beach Art Exhibition.

Saturday, June 29, 2024, 12 - 6 p.m.
Newport Beach Civic Center 

The 57th Annual Newport Beach Art Exhibition presents an opportunity for artists to show and sell their artwork to the public in a one-day exhibit. 

The annual exhibition features recently created original artwork in various mediums, including oils and acrylics, watercolor, charcoal, pen and ink, sculpture, photography and mixed media. The event has been postponed from its original date and will be held on Saturday, TBD, 2024, 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Newport Beach Civic Center. Artists may apply by creating a free account on CallForEntry.org (CaFE)**. The call for entries closes on TBD, 2024.

**A free online CaFE account is required prior to submitting entries to the Exhibition.

Sculpture Exhibition in Civic Center Park 

The City of Newport Beach, California currently showcases 10-20 sculptures in its outdoor Sculpture Exhibition in Civic Center Park at the award-winning Civic Center Park. This beautiful 14-acre, ocean-view site was designed by the renowned landscape architectural firm PWP Landscape Architecture. Selected works are on loan to the City and installed for a period of two years. Honorariums range from $2,000 - $5,000. Artists, art collectors, galleries, and museums are encouraged to apply when future calls for entries are announced.

Stop by to enjoy a festive day with the arts. Mingle with the artists and artisans who will be exhibiting and selling their original art and fine crafts.
