FILM PERMITS
Filming in Newport Beach is regulated by Newport Beach Municipal Code Section 5.46. Film permits are required for any commercial film activity that occurs within the City of Newport Beach. Film activity includes still photography, film or video production. Any person desiring to use any property for the purpose of staging, shooting, making, capturing, taking or recording of images for any commercial or business purpose shall obtain a film permit.

The applicant must obtain a property owner’s permission, consent, and or lease for use of property not owned or controlled by the City. The City may determine that the applicant, as a condition to film permit approval, notify any areas impacted by the production by distributing a Film Notification. All coordination with Homeowner Associations, property owners, schools and residents shall be the responsibility of the applicant.

FILM PERMIT APPLICATIONS
The City has contracted with FilmLA to process our film permits. For future filming, please contact them five business days prior to your proposed filming date. Should your permit require traffic control, reserved parking and or special effects please allow additional time to process and approve your permit. Film permits may be denied if deemed contrary to public convenience and or is declared to constitute a public nuisance.

INSURANCE

General Liability
As a condition of granting a permit, the City of Newport Beach shall require the applicant to provide General Liability Insurance for the full period of time for which the permit is granted. A certificate and endorsements evidencing that such insurance is in force shall be filed before any such permit is effective.

Workers’ Compensation
Applicant is required to comply with Section 3700 of the Labor Code of the State of California requiring every employer to be insured against liability for workers’ compensation or to undertake self-insurance before commencing any work.
