The City of Newport Beach hosts 20,000 to 100,000 tourists daily during the summer months. Tons of trash are generated by residents and tourists alike. Occasionally, the trash doesn't quite make it into the trash cans. This campaign is a challenge to the community and visitors to help keep Newport Beach beautiful by picking up trash.

Additional ways to keep Newport Beach beautiful include:

1. Hosting a community or beach cleanup.

2. Making sure all waste is placed in the appropriate waste container, whether it is organics, recyclable or trash.

3. Walking the neighborhood and keeping an eye out for any problem issues to report.

4. Pouring leftover beverages or food liquids down the sink drain, or if appropriate, your planters. Please do not pour these liquids onto the sidewalk or in parking lots.

5. Caring for the landscaping on your property through trimming and weed removal maintenance.

6. Picking up after your pets and disposing the waste in the black-lid trash can.

7. Moving your vehicles on street sweeping day to help the sweepers keep the street clean.

8. Visiting parks, beaches or nature conservation areas and taking everything you brought back with you as you depart. Please do not litter.

Surfrider Foundation - The Surfrider Foundation is an ocean conservancy non-profit founded in 1984 with its mission "dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world's ocean, waves and beaches, for all people, through a powerful activist network." The local North Orange County Chapter (which includes Newport Beach) hosts numerous events each month including beach clean ups to tackle the issues that are impacting our local coastlines. Newport Bay Conservancy - Newport Bay Conservancy is a volunteer driven organization on a mission to protect and preserve the Upper Newport Bay. This organization hosts regular cleanups on the second and fourth Sunday of every month. They also offer the opportunity for folks to volunteer in a high tide cleanup from a kayak, picking up trash in the wetlands before it reaches the ocean. Orange County Coastkeeper - Orange County Coastkeeper is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting Orange County's water resources so they are accessible to present and future generations. This organization provides a variety of volunteer opportunities, ranging from cleanups to coastal/marine monitoring. To learn more, check our Coastkeeper's involvement page.

Trellis International - The City works with Trellis International in an effort to support community beautification projects within Newport Beach, while also working to close the employment gap associated with individuals experiencing homelessness. Trellis International works with individuals experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity to further develop job skills that are necessary to re-enter the job market.

  - Volunteering more than 2000 hours
  - Collecting over 500 bags of trash/debris

As you make your way around town, please keep us in the know of anything that seems to be amiss. We appreciate the community's assistance in reporting graffiti, stickers on public amenities, uplifted sidewalks, broken irrigation lines/sprinklers, overflowing trash cans and public amenities that may be broken or damaged.
