As of March 16, 2020, all community centers are closed. We have cancelled all recreation classes, youth & adult sports leagues, Active Kids programs and aquatics until April 12, 2020. All City of Newport Beach ACE programs will be suspended until at least April 20, 2020 due to the Newport- Mesa school district closure. ACE classes will resume when schools re-open. The OASIS Senior Center will remain closed to the public through Sunday, April 12.

We are currently NOT ACCEPTING any new registration for Spring 2020 until further notice. We look forward to bringing programming back soon. The situation is being consistently evaluated to determine when programming can commence for spring. Look for emails with updates on the spring session.

Though City parks are open, on March 23, the City closed amenities within the parks including playgrounds, fitness equipment, fields (baseball, soccer, multi-use), all courts (basketball, tennis, pickleball, handball and volleyball) and the dog park to further discourage gatherings of any size and help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
On March 25, all City-owned beachfront parking lots and its two piers will close, in alignment with the most recent guidance from Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office to limit public gatherings and reduce the spread of COVID-19. The State has not yet announced a closure of Crystal Cove State Beach’s parking lot.

Please click here for the latest press release and monitor updates on our City web page on disease outbreak that has been updated with COVID-19 information.

City staff will remain available during regular business hours. Please call 949-644-3151 with any questions.

Spring 2020 Newport Navigator

Summer Camps - Camp Newport

The Newport Navigator is the department's quarterly recreational guide to classes, camps and activities. Whether you’re interested in classes, surfing, sailing, camps, or pintsized programs, this guide has the perfect activity for you.

Become An Instructor
A Contract Instructor is an independent contractor for the City (Contract Instructors are not employees) who is interested in providing a service to the community in the form of a class, workshop or camp. All who are interested in becoming an instructor must complete the Contract Instructor Application and submit it to the City of Newport Beach Recreation and Senior Services Department for review.

Contract instructors do not rent the city facilities, however a portion of the fees collected are retained by the City to cover facility usage, registration, administration and promotion of the class in the Newport Navigator. All applications must be submitted six to eight months prior to the desired session (however, summer classes are reviewed in October). Thank you for your interest in becoming a Contract Instructor for the City of Newport Beach Recreation and Senior Services Department.
