NOTICE OF VACANCIES

The City of Newport Beach is currently accepting applications to fill the following upcoming scheduled vacancies:

•     Board of Library Trustees (one seat – terms are for four-years, expiring June 30, 2030)
Meetings are held on the third Monday of each month

•     Building and Fire Board of Appeals (two seats – terms are for four-years, expiring June 30, 2030)
Meetings are as needed on a Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon

•     City Arts Commission (one seat – terms are for four-years, expiring June 30, 2030)
Meetings are at 5:00 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month

•     Civil Service Board (one Council Nominee seat – term is for four-years, expiring June 30, 2030)
Meetings are at 5:00 p.m. on the first Monday of each month

•     Harbor Commission (three seats – terms are for four-years, expiring June 30, 2030)
Meetings are at 5:00 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month

•     Parks, Beaches & Recreation Commission (two seats – terms are for four-years, expiring June 30, 2030)
Meetings are at 5:00 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month

•     Planning Commission (one seat – terms are for four-years, expiring June 30, 2030)
Meetings are at 6:00 p.m. on the first and third Thursdays of each month

•     Finance Committee (up to four seats – terms are for two years, expiring June 30,
2028)*
* Finance Committee Appointee shall possess demonstrated education, professional
certification, or significant professional experience in finance, accounting, economics,
business administration, public administration, investment management, or a closely related
field.

All applicants must be qualified electors of the City, none of whom shall hold any paid office or employment in City government (Section 702 of the City Charter).

All scheduled vacancies will become vacant when the existing terms expire on June 30, 2026, or until the seat is filled.

The deadline for filing applications is 5pm on Thursday, April 30, 2026, or until the vacancies are filled.  The application and additional information about the Boards and Commissions can be found at www.newportbeachca.gov/government/boards-commissions-committees or by calling 949-644-3005.  Applications for the Boards and Commissions may also be submitted online through the
City’s website.
