Onestar's Confession by Erin Hunter

onestar's confession bk cover

Onestar’s Confession by Erin Hunter is the most recent book added to the Super Edition series. Once I saw this book in the store, I decided to give it a shot. After reading it I can tell you that it comes nothing short to what the other Warrior books are. Onestar, one of Windclan’s leaders during the time of Firestar’s reign, is the main character of this book and the cat whose perspective we see from entirely through the book. It starts from when he was an apprentice, to a warrior, and then… to the unexpectancy of Onewhisker. I’ll start from all the way when he was an apprentice. As an apprentice, Onepaw was an above average well performing cat. Him and his mentor train together and it won’t be long before he becomes a full fledged warrior. One day, as Onepaw and his mentor were on a patrol they stumbled upon a kitty pet and her two kits and a badger. The kittypet mother proved to be a strong cat after she assisted the patrol with fighting off a common enemy. After she helped fight it off, the patrol brought her to Tallstar, who was the Windclan leader before Onestar. Tallstar warns the kitty pets about joining but they stick to their beliefs and join Windclan. The kitty pets kits become apprentices alongside Onepaw .The apprentices all continue their training except the kitty pets seem to be doing not as well as the rest of the cats. Tragedy strikes and the male kittypet apprentice dies. His sister had already left the clan some time ago but after his death, the mother went back home as well. Onepaw is shocked and grieved by these events, but he also then starts to agree that kitty pets do not belong in clans. One thing that happened when the littlest were around was that Onepaw started visiting certain cats. He becomes attracted to one, but then stops visiting her after he becomes a warrior and finds a new mate within his clan. Onepaw ends up becoming a warrior with his warrior name being Onewhisker. This is the beginning of the main part of the book where Onewhisker travels with his clan, finds a new territory and becomes the leader. One thing that I find very sad is that before becoming Onestar, Onewhisker was friends with Firestar and always trusted him, but when he became leader that changed completely. From apprentice to Starclan, Onestar’s journey is not one to miss.

I was always a fan of the Warrior series and when I found out how many other books there were apart from the main series I was overwhelmed! I decided to read Onestar’s confession because it looked appealing and it was a good summary for the events I missed from not reading the other books. Honestly, this book made me a little sad and annoyed at times because of the decisions that Onestar made and some events that happened in the book. I recommend this book to ages 11+ and to those that have read at least some of the other books in the world of Warrior Cats. Thank you for reading and enjoy your day.
