Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White is a fiction novel that is loved by numerous
audiences. Not only is the novel entertaining and fun, but it also teaches you an
important lesson. It teaches you about the importance of friendships. The friendship
between Wilbur, the pig, and Charlotte, the spider is an example in this book. A little girl
named Fern saves Wilbur from getting killed by his father because he was a runt.
Shortly after Wilbur almost gets killed, he was only 5 weeks old. Fern’s parents both
come up with the decision to sell him. Again, Fern comes to the rescue and tries to save
Wilbur, but it doesn't work this time. To let Fern calm down, Mr. Arable, the father, and
Mrs. Arable, the mother, decide to put Wilbur at Fern’s uncle’s farm. Wilbur comes to
find amazing friends that cheer him on during his hard times along with his savior,
Charlotte.
During the journey of reading this book, it has made me go through a lot of
emotions. The part where I disliked was when Wilbur kept on being on the edge of
getting killed or sold. First, he almost got killed by Mr. Arable for being a runt. He luckily
survived it thanks to Fern because of her persuasion to her father about how he should
be able to live because it wasn't his fault that he was small and weak. The other part
was when the parents of Fern were telling her that she has to give up on Wilbur now
because he has to get sold. The amount of up and downs there made me nervous of
Wilbur and Fern.
Even though I disliked some parts because they made me a little anxious, I loved
all the other parts because they made such a beautiful image. The confidence that Fern
had to save Wilbur really fascinated me. The things Fern did to raise Wilbur and the
love she had for him. She would always think about him to the point where she would
always say his name when she isn't suppose to and go to him at her uncle’s farm every
single day just to see how he was doing. Fern never gave up on Wilbur, until she
couldn't always be there for him, but Charlotte came so he didn’t feel too lonely,
I would definitely recommend Charlotte’s Web to other Teen Readers because
this book will fascinate your mindset. It’ll also make you aware of what types of
relationships you will need to keep in your life in order to live a pleasant and comfortable
life. In this book, there are a lot of different friendships and other people that share their
friendship, but no one here gets selfish or feels left out. They all try to include one
another or even help them. That is what relationships should be like and in this book,
gives you specific ideas about what a healthy and a supportive relationship would be
like.
