Dave Webb

David Webb serves as the Director of Public Works for the City of Newport Beach and has more than 37 years of diverse administration, management, and engineering experience in municipal and private project design and construction, including land development and entitlement processing.
Dave oversees the City’s $90 million Capital Improvement Program, a full-time staff of 97, and a $54 million operating budget that funds civil and transportation engineering, public right-of-way development and permitting, capital project construction and inspection, traffic and signal system operations, surface water quality compliance and conservation, and municipal maintenance operations. He served as Newport Beach’s Deputy Director of Public Work and City Engineer for 5 years and was promoted to Director of Public Works in August, 2012. Prior to Newport Beach, Dave served for 16 years with the City of Huntington Beach as City Engineer and Deputy Director of Public Works overseeing utilities and maintenance operations. Before joining the public sector, he worked for several consulting firms, including HDR Engineering and Ott Engineering.
Dave holds a master’s degree in public administration from California State University, Long Beach and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. He is also licensed as a Registered Professional Civil Engineer in California.
Outside of work, Dave leads an active life with his wife, three children and grandchildren. His interests includes boating, camping, traveling, gardening and home improvement projects.
